Massimiliano Tommaso Rezza’s presentation (accompanied by projections) will revolve around the ideas that have led to the creation of his book ATEM (Yard Press). The necessity to produce a thematic work eventually led to a derailment to the point of negating all categories of the photographic practice and transforming radically all the original plans of the work itself making the photographer explore the automatisms of language. The logical conclusion of such an approach was to make a book that steps out of the grammar and scope of a photographic book. Rezza’s work deals with the responsibility both of the photographer and the public receiver, it emphasises the power of images and the rhetoric of the photographic form in use.
Massimiliano Tommaso Rezza (°1967) graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1992. In 2010 he completed his degree in photography in Rome. In 2015 he published his first book with Yard Press. The book has sparked some attention and was positively reviewed by, among others, Gerhard Steidl (Steidl), Brad Feuerhelm (American Suburb X), Victor Mazière (Punto de Fuga, Paris), Antenne Books, PhotoBookStore, Ti Pi Tin and Nero Magazine among others.
